Bayleaf Balinese Restaurant offers the authentic flavours of the Balinese cuisine in a tropical ambience.

Owner Klaus Ullrich has had vast experience in the restaurant industry at an early age. As an Executive Pastry Chef from Austria, he has had major stints with prestigious hotels like The Observatory Hotel Sydney by Orient Express, Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua in Bali as well as in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and South Africa. He has also owned and opened the successful Bluefish Restaurant and Bar in Darling Harbour Sydney.

Having spent two years with the Sheraton Hotel in Bali, his love for this unique and flavoursome cuisine was ignited. His efforts to showcase this exotic taste to local Australians and visitors culminated in the opening of Bayleaf Balinese Restaurant in 2004. Cairns' only Balinese Restaurant!

Our Balinese Chefs are trained at the highly regarded Bumbu Bali Restaurant & Cooking School in Bali and under the strict guidance of Masterchef and respected author and good friend - Heinz von Holzen.
